Question

Is JFT-Basic enough, or do employers prefer JLPT N4?

Anonymous· · 1 views

Both seem to be accepted for SSW. Do employers in Japan care which one I pass? Which is easier to schedule?

Legally both are enough for SSW (i). Caregiving also needs the caregiving Japanese test.

    • JFT-Basic: computer-based, many test dates a year, result right away. See the official site.
    • JLPT N4: paper test twice a year (July and December), result after about two months, better known to employers.

If you want to leave soon, take JFT-Basic. If you have time, JLPT is the more familiar certificate when you change jobs later.

Rules change; always check the official pages before you apply.
