What is it like working in agriculture on SSW? Seasonal or all year?

I am considering an agriculture job in Hokkaido. Is the work all year round or only in some seasons, and how does housing usually work?

Agriculture is one of the SSW fields where both direct hiring and dispatch (haken) are allowed. Dispatch lets workers move between farms with the seasons.

    • Year-round work depends on the crop and region: greenhouses and livestock run all year, open fields in Hokkaido slow down in winter. Ask the employer what you will do from December to March.
    • Housing is usually arranged by the employer or support organization and must meet minimum standards; check the rent and utilities deducted.
